The Long Island Museum of American Art, History and Carriages is planning a major museum exhibition on the art and career of the artist Lumen Martin Winter (1907/08-1982). This exhibition is a beginning retrospective of the artist's artwork and his contributions to the art field from the years 1930's to 1980's. Approximately 85 to 90 works of art are included in the exhibition ranging from  drawings, watercolors and oils as well as archival materials, photographs and brochures of his murals and sculptural work. Some of the artwork is being borrowed from private collections, never seen before, and and also lending Lumen Winter's art are major museums in the Metropolitan area. Of particular interest are the preliminary charcoal and conte studies for the large oil painting Titans  at the Genaral Assemby of the United Nations, NYC which are being exhibited for the first time and the red conte mural studies for the AFL-CIO murals in the headquarters Washington DC and dedicated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.  A catalogue is being planned with an essay by Director of Collections and Chief Curator, Joshua Ruff of the Long Island Museum and also an essay by former Senior Curator of Nassau County Museum of Art, Franklin Hill Perrell which places the artist Lumen Winter in context with other artists of his time.
